The history and founding of Rehasuisse has a lot to do with my own journey through life.
A Meeting that changed My Life
As a student of medicine—my original goal was to become a sports physician—I was invited to stay in the United States in the summer of 1991. There I met a man who was paralysed due to a sporting accident (quadriplegia) and thus had to accept massive limitations to his life style.
We very soon developed a deep friendship. Together with my friend, I committed myself to finding a way to provide better medical care. I got involved in developing a realistic occupational perspective for his future.
This is how I first became acquainted with the American Social Security and healthcare system. Due to a lack of financial resources, I again and again had to develop alternative solutions for accomplishing our ambitious plans and goals.
At the end of the year 1991, I was sure what profession I wished to pursue in my life: Rehabilitation Consultant.
Years of Training
My educational path would now not only include studies of medicine, but also would focus in particular on medical care, psychology and business.
To finance my studies, I worked in a variety of different fields and completed numerous internships both at home and abroad.
During this period I gained my first entrepreneurial experiences.
Rehabilitation Consultant
In the year 1998—after completing my studies and having returned to Europe—I looked for a platform that would enable me to best realise my professional expectations.
These were and still are: independence, proficiency and international activity.
For the next three years I was employed as a rehabilitation consultant for Mercur RehaCare, Germany, a subsidiary of Allianz and Münchner Rückversicherung.
Then I worked for the GenRe Rehabilitationsdienst GmbH, a subsidiary of the GenRe for seven years in different countries and across different continents.
Founding Rehasuisse
On 11 December 2007 Rehasuisse GmbH was founded with its seat in Root Längenbold (LU).
The company name shows the connection to our core activity, rehabilitation management. “Switzerland" is not just our location. It represents the pursuit of quality to which we are deeply committed.
Together with my staff, we took up operations at the beginning of 2008. This let us take optimal advantage of our skills and years of experience and assures at the same time that Rehasuisse will continue to evolve to the benefit of our clients.
